A humorous book for reluctant readers and/or fans of THE BOOK WITH NO PICTURES

Britt

This is such a lovely book for the reader who hasn't found the right book for them yet。 It's humorous and speaks to the 'grr argh' feeling of starting a task that feels just a bit too daunting, or maybe even boring。 Sidenote: please please please make recordings of Max reading this aloud publicly available。 That was such a ginormous treat (I fell off my chair)。 This is such a lovely book for the reader who hasn't found the right book for them yet。 It's humorous and speaks to the 'grr argh' feeling of starting a task that feels just a bit too daunting, or maybe even boring。 Sidenote: please please please make recordings of Max reading this aloud publicly available。 That was such a ginormous treat (I fell off my chair)。 。。。more

Confession: Huge fan of Mike Lowery。 I wanted to read this book as soon as I saw the art and read the title。 The title alone is an infinitesimal rebellion and that is part of the appeal of I Don't Want to Read This Book。 After 14+ years as a school librarian I can say, easily, that this title will be grabbed by students, proudly walked to the classroom and taken home。 The act of reading it will be like conspiring against books and, in the end, realizing they DID want to read this book。 They did Confession: Huge fan of Mike Lowery。 I wanted to read this book as soon as I saw the art and read the title。 The title alone is an infinitesimal rebellion and that is part of the appeal of I Don't Want to Read This Book。 After 14+ years as a school librarian I can say, easily, that this title will be grabbed by students, proudly walked to the classroom and taken home。 The act of reading it will be like conspiring against books and, in the end, realizing they DID want to read this book。 They did it。 They read a book。 Well played, Max Greenfield。 。。。more

I received an electronic ARC from G。P。 Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers through Edelweiss+。Humorous book to share with reluctant readers。 This would make a great read aloud for classes and families when someone is struggling to read。 Reluctant readers will relate to the ideas shared and appreciate the fun as they actually do read an entire book。 Clever illustrations and various font types keep the connections moving forward。 I received an electronic ARC from G。P。 Putnam's Sons Books for Young Readers through Edelweiss+。Humorous book to share with reluctant readers。 This would make a great read aloud for classes and families when someone is struggling to read。 Reluctant readers will relate to the ideas shared and appreciate the fun as they actually do read an entire book。 Clever illustrations and various font types keep the connections moving forward。 。。。more

I got an ARC on Edelweiss and I could tell this was Mike Lowery right away。 He might be my favorite illustrator right now?? The book is cute and clearly a fun read-aloud。 I can just picture the kids' delight if a parent or teacher read this to them。 It's so taboo to say you don't want to read! But there the grown-ups go!!There isn't much of a story other than this, and if I was asked to imagine a book with this premise, I'd probably come up with something really similar to this。 So it's a little I got an ARC on Edelweiss and I could tell this was Mike Lowery right away。 He might be my favorite illustrator right now?? I obtained an advance copy, and I could see myself passing this book onto a reluctant reader who who just isn't in the mood to sit with a book。 There's humor here and there, but I may have appreciated it more if I had a print copy in front of me。 I obtained an advance copy, and I could see myself passing this book onto a reluctant reader who who just isn't in the mood to sit with a book。 There's humor here and there, but I may have appreciated it more if I had a print copy in front of me。 。。。more

I read an advance review copy thanks to Edelweiss。 This is a great picture book for elementary school readers, particularly reluctant readers。 This would be a great read aloud for 3rd to 5th grade。
